Introduction
Hello! I'm so glad you picked up a copy of this e-book because it means that you are on your way to achieving your dreams through a successful network marketing business. This is a growing field full of amazing system as well as dead ends, so it is very important to have some sort of guide along the way. That is what I'm here for; throughout the book I will be referring to websites and programs that you can get in on also by following the directions in the last chapter. I cannot give out specific information on those programs here, but I can help you get it.
So what is this book really good for? Within these pages I am going to teach you what network marketing is and how to use it to your advantage. There is so much out there that it can be terribly daunting when you first get into network marketing, but if you use this guide to pick your way through it you will come out successful.
I am also going to teach you the common causes of failure on the internet and how to get around them. Network Marketing failure is a vicious cycle that claims many a good business owner but it can be avoided mainly with a positive attitude and a lot of sticktoittiveness. Sometimes it just takes some encouragement to break the cycle and I hope I can be that for you.
And, most importantly, I am going to introduce you to tools that will help you grow a downline that will carry you to retirement. There are many tools out there to make it easier, but some of them are just so hard to find! And once you find them how do you know if they are any good? Well I have been weeding them out for a while now and I will provide you with links to a few that I use and love.
So who am I to be telling you all of this? Well, first and foremost I am someone who cares about your success as well as my own. I have been struggling through the world of online business and I have finally found out the secrets and I want nothing more than to share them with you!
I am a stay at home mom with a lovely little boy who is more than just a handful. My husband works in an all but dying industry and we are living with his mom while we pay off the debt that we accumulated trying to get out of an even worse situation. Have you ever lived in a town with such a poor job market that you could not even afford to move away? That's where we were and if it wasn't for the kindness of family we would still be there, living off the government! But that is just how the economy is right now, it seems that unless you have two incomes you cannot make it in the world.
I had a job at a department store before I had my son. But I was never much for working for "the man." I always wanted a home based business so that I could slack off when I wanted to and not get yelled at, or worse, fired for it! I got myself into a very well known direct sales business without thinking too much. I loved the products, the company, and the people, but I did not like selling! I could not bring myself to approach people and make them give me money! You see, I have a certain personality disorder that comes with intense social anxiety. I have no idea why I ever thought I would succeed in direct sales! Every time I picked up the phone my heart would pound and my mind would go blank. I dreaded every moment I worked and that's not how I pictured my business! So, needless to say, after my mom bought all that she needed and my friends stopped inviting me over my business went under. In fact, I just now gave up and finished selling my stock on ebay!
I did not really give up, though, I still had dreams of making money at home. I made the mistake of putting all my extra time in survey sites! If you have ever used those before you know how frustrating it is. I spent hours filling things out and getting rid of junk email and I think I made $30 which I still have yet to receive! So those don't work either unless you're looking for something that takes a lot of time and only gives a little back.
After I gave that up I discovered network and multi-level marketing and was hooked from the beginning! Imagine, something that would make money without having to speak to anyone! It took a while to weed out the duds but I finally settled on a few sites that were winners and my business is growing! Later on I'll let you know how you can find out what those sites are.
So, long story short, I am someone who is going through the same thing that you are and I'm doing a good job! I want to help you do the same. So take time to read through this book and I know you will be making money in no time.
Chapter 1: Affiliates
I'm sure that everyone has come across an affiliate site before. Maybe you have even tried it and thought that is was more trouble than it's worth? Well, I hope that I can prove to you that they are worth the "trouble." Actually, I will take some of the trouble out of it for you!
So why use affiliate sites? Well, first and foremost they're free. Each affiliate program is like a little home business just waiting to be managed, all you need to do is sign up and start promoting. They're very easy, for the most part, and just ask you to pass around product and affiliate advertising. Last, but not least, you are not limited to just one little turnkey business, you can have as many as you can keep strait in your head. I, personally, have several that are doing well. I sign up for just about all of them and try them out for a while. I just stop using the ones that don't look as promising.
So what are affiliate programs anyway? Pretty much big business figures that it would be cheaper to pay a percentage of sales to individuals rather than pay a large up-front sum to advertising companies. The business recruits you and I to do the advertising and if we pull in enough sales we get paid. We also get paid for referring more advertisers to the business. That is why it is generally referred to as "multi-level" marketing. You make money not only off of the sales that you create but off of the sales that your referrals create sometimes for ten or more levels! That means that if you really don't want to try to sell things you can just recruit others and live off of their sales.
There are also different things that you will be expected to advertise and the best affiliate sites will start to feel like a real business after a while. Some just want you to get more people to sign up. These are some of the easiest because it sounds so easy that people figure they can do that blindfolded. Other sites will actually give you a storefront and send you out selling products. These sites you can run like an affiliate site by just placing banners here and there or, in some cases, actually have inventory on hand and have a real live business. One of the links I can give you has that option. It actually offers all options. You can make money purely with referrals and it offers products at wholesale.
Whichever route you chose a strong downline is always most important. It is very reasonable to expect an income of $500 or more per month once you build up a decent downline - a downline being your referrals - especially if you put the time and personal attention into it. And the income potential only grows as time goes on.
Chapter 2: Why do I fail?
So with affiliate programs apparently being so easy, why do they have such a high failure rate? They can be very discouraging especially in the beginning when you are setting everything up and struggling to find a few good referrals. It can be especially discouraging when you go into it with no experience expecting everyone and their mom to want to buy something from you. In reality, more than one hundred people might view a banner before someone clicks on it, and it might take another hundred clicks before someone buys something. So it's a good thing there are millions upon millions of people online every day! It actually stacks the odds more in your favor than you realize if you use all the tools available to you.
Some might be discouraged because they have no money for advertising. Well, that is a concern, but you don't need to pay for advertising. There are many places to put banners, classified ads and so on for free. There are also websites that offer to run advertisements for as little as twenty cents per day!
Maybe you get discouraged because your friends and family are not interested in your "amazing opportunity" or "wonderful product." I know that gets me down sometimes, but now I don't even bother them with it unless I know for sure it is something that they would be interested. Besides, there are many fish in the sea and it is not worth making your friends fear your phone calls.
Perhaps you feel that your exposure is limited? Well, having one banner on your Myspace page or website is very limited. But don't get discouraged, branch out! There are many networking sites out there, some of which are populated only by people who want to hear about your business!
Last, but not least, you might just get so frustrated with not seeing results right away that you give up! That's no attitude to have! Quitters never make the big bucks, it even takes persistence to win the lottery! So giving up is not an option if you want to succeed.
Chapter 3: How can I succeed?
I cannot stress enough how important the right tools are to any growing business. Have you ever tried to dig a ditch with your hands? How did it work? Not very well, I bet. How about digging with a spoon? It's the same way if you try to manage an affiliate business without the right tools. You can do it, but it might take forever! I was a failure at internet marketing until I found the right networking tool. I will not name the tool here, but in the last chapter I will give you the link that will be the first step to the rest of the links I promised before.
I will tell you a few things about this fabulous system, though. It is one organized set of income streams that guides you through setup of twelve or more different ways to make money and promote just about anything. Once you set it up it runs itself. You only have to get people interested in one thing and they, more than likely, will be on board with whatever you give them because they actually want it. It attracts people who really want what you are offering which is a breath of fresh air in this business.
Still have doubts that you need it? Okay, think again about trying to offer an affiliate program to everyone walking by on the street. You're going to just go nuts because nobody will want it and those that do will be annoyed by you asking. Now imagine having a big blinking sign above your head that says "ask about my business opportunity." You just sit there and let the interested people come to you thinking it was their idea. This system is just like that sign. Most people will find you on their own and think that it was their big business idea and not yours.
So once you have your system set up, how can you make the most of it? You can't just let it sit there as tempting as it may be. You might make a little bit of money with your website and links just floating around, but in order to make the big bucks you need to have a plan of attack. You need to work just a little. I, personally, maybe work an hour every day. Even though some of these sites might say it takes 5 minutes a day I would suggest more because you get out of a business what you put in. I'm willing to bet that if I had spent 18 hours a day in front of my computer from day one I'd be a millionaire by now! But I want to have a life, isn't that what working at home is all about? Not working?
The first way to get the most out of your new system is to promote your affiliate sites to the leads generated. It will take very little work on your part to get people interested in the tool I will direct you to later. In the first week you should have five or more people in your downline just waiting for your guidance. That might not sound like a whole lot, but when you think that they will all be more interested than a hundred other people it really is a good deal. Once you see that they're setting up the system for themselves you can start sending them emails. First be sure to welcome them and offer help and once they have been online for a few days you can introduce your other opportunities. I would suggest putting together a well written email and saving it to your computer so that you can send it to all of your referrals once they get to that point. It should start by saying how thrilled you are that they're on your team and go on to ask if they have been making the most of their system. Then introduce all of your programs and why your team should try them. Slowly but surely you should see results as your team members try one thing or another.
Once you have introduced your team to your affiliate programs I would suggest - and I know I warned about this before - going to your friends and family. It is an entirely different approach with them though. Be casual and make sure you let them know that you're sharing because you care. Only bother each person once and take no as no. Friends should always come before business because even if nice guys finish last at least they have a shoulder to cry on when they fail. Once way to get friends and family to check out your business is to ask for their help. Let them know that you have a new venture and are trying to get it off the ground. If they could just sign up and put one link up somewhere it would really help out a lot. You would be surprised how many people will do something because they feel sorry for you and want to help out. This might seem underhanded, but at least everything that you are offering is free so they won't lose anything if they don't want to use it after a while.
Next is the most powerful way to promote and in some ways the most annoying! Social networking sites like Myspace are buzzing with people who want to make money any way they can and many of them will at least click on something. There are many of these sites out there. Some of them are just social, some are business focused and some even pay you for using them! Several of these sites are linked to the system I will be giving you so don't worry about that. So how do you use a social networking site? Well, first you have to decide if you are going to make a personal profile, a business profile or both. I prefer to promote my business with a separate profile so that my real friends are not bombarded by my advertisements and I'm sure they appreciate it. If you do it that way you can focus a lot more on your business.
Once you have a profile set up make sure to add banners to it. You don't want to have just a banner farm, be sure to add something interesting. Make it pretty and write something about yourself and your business. Make people want to check everything out. You want your profile guests to enjoy their stay and maybe click on a banner, if they don't see anything interesting right off the bat they will never come back.
Next you will want to add friends. Many of these sites will have something called a "friend train." A friend train is a club that you join so that all of the members will add you as a friend, and you can add them. Once you have friends what do you do? First you want to thank them for adding you by leaving a comment. The system I will provide comes with a "thanks for the add" banner which you can leave for everyone. Once you do that you can start personally contacting people who you think will be interested. To find people who will be interested simply search the clubs or groups for things like "money" or "home based business" and you will be provided not only with lists of people who want to hear what you have to say but with message boards where you can leave your advertisement for everyone to see. And remember, whenever you write an email or ad you need to make it sound like the best thing in the world, as if the thing you're promoting might cure cancer. Even if you are getting discouraged you are allowed to lie a little. It's easy to fake a positive attitude on a keyboard.
Remember that these systems are tools that need your hands in order to work properly. Without a little push in the right direction even the best automated system (which, by the way, is the one I'll be giving you) will only be mediocre. You will get out of it what you put in.
Chapter 4: Tips
1 When choosing which business or businesses that you want to get into it's always a good idea to try a lot of them. Unlike in the real world, when you deal with affiliate sites you will often, literally, have nothing to lose so it's worth it to try them all. Once you have sampled a range of different businesses you should settle on a few that you like. If you enjoy selling a tangible product then you should chose a direct sales site. If you like to just sit back and let things happen then you should aim for a networking business. It's important to specialize on a few that you like so that you can build strong downlines that will work for you. It is also easier to keep them straight without hiring a secretary.

You will want to devote some time to your business. I recommend 15 minutes to half an hour at least if you want to make any money. Most sites will advertise that it only takes 5 minutes a day, and some do. But that's only if you are expecting and happy with a bare minimum. I cannot say it enough; you will get out of your business what you put into it. If you only spend enough time to catch up ever day you will never get ahead. Some days you might have to force yourself to do just a little bit more. Send one more email or place one more ad before you go to bed and you will see positive results.

I know what you're going to say, "I thought this was all free!" Well, it is all free, but like all businesses, it works better if you invest a little bit of money as well as a little bit of time. It takes no money to start all of this, but once your business is growing and you've seen your first check or maybe when you have some spare cash lying around I would recommend setting up a business aid budget. Set aside a little bit of money each month to put back into your business and decide ahead of time where it will be going. You should consider investing in one or all of the following:
- Websites / Domains: The link I will give you in the next section will begin with a place where you can buy a domain that is set up for you. It is a small monthly fee but worth every penny because it looks professional and therefore makes you look like a professional. So even if you are sitting at your computer naked surrounded by cats, someone visiting your website will have an image of you in a suit and tie with a corner office. Also, people are more likely to click on a dot com than a something dot com slash some number or silly username.
- Paid advertising: Once you have a business aid budget, which you should do starting in your second month at least, you should start advertising. It is not as expensive as you might think to get your ad on a site that people actually visit. I found a site that offers ads for as little as 20 cents per day all the way up to a thousand or more per week. I will give you that link also when you are ready for it.
- Business cards: Nothing says professional like business cards. Not only can you give them to people who are interested in your business opportunity, but you can give them to anyone who wants your phone number. You can also leave them with restaurant bills, on bulletin boards, or anywhere else you go. People often will take something more seriously when they can hold it in their hands. Some affiliate and home based business programs offer their own business cards, or you can make your own. You can buy programs to format and print them at home.

Last, but not least, Never give up. There will be times when you want to just play games when you should be working, but you should always send one email or set up one advertisement every single day even if you are getting discouraged. It is easy to get discouraged in the first few weeks when things are slow and maybe you haven't started advertising yet. But just remember that business will pick up if you keep at it. Remember, if you keep working then you will most likely succeed but if you give up you will fail, guaranteed. So keep looking at the glass half full and make sure to view every new lead as a gift from above.
